Description of Activities
The purposes of the Society are: a) To enhance the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities through sport; b) To encourage and facilitate the participation of individuals with intellectual disabilities in quality sport programs, sport-based activities, training programs, and competitive opportunities; c) To promote, encourage, and facilitate the improved health, wellness, self-esteem, and physical awareness of individuals with intellectual disabilities; d) To promote and support qualified coaching/instruction and officiating for the benefit of individuals with intellectual disabilities; e) To organize, support, and/or participate in sport events and competitions at the local, regional, provincial, national, and international levels, and to make available to those athletes with intellectual disabilities who have achieved appropriate standards opportunities to participate in such events and competitions; f) To promote public awareness, acceptance, and support of individuals with intellectual disabilities; g) To provide the resources, infrastructure, and leadership necessary to achieve the goals and objectives of the Society.
