Description of Activities
HAVAN represents the residential construction and renovation sector in Metro Vancouver, and is affiliated with the Canadian Home Builders Association (National) and the Canadian Home Builders Association - British Columbia (CHBA-BC). Our primary advocacy activities are centered around local governments in Metro Vancouver, as well as regional entities Metro Vancouver (GVRD) and TransLink. Virtually all of our provincial lobbying activities are undertaken within the auspices of CHBA-BC. We also have relationships with provincial entities such as BC Housing, BC Hydro and BCIT for educational programs, sponsorship of major events and awards. Staff members of our organization also participate in provincial lobbying activities as part of other organizations (BC Real Estate Association), and as such are advocating for specific areas of interest to BCREA, and may not necessarily be aligned with lobbying efforts of HAVAN.
