Description of Business Activities
The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. The BC SPCA is the only animal welfare organization in B.C. with the authority to enforce animal cruelty laws under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (PCA Act). BC SPCA assists more than 41,806 animals in need every year across 44 locations and 36 branches in BC which care for abused and homeless animals, until they are adopted into new homes. BC SPCA is the only animal agency in B.C. with the authority to respond to complaints of suspected abuse and neglect, while also providing temporary sanctuary for tens of thousands of animals each year and as well emergency rescue and veterinary services.
