The Heart and Stroke Foundation is a national organization that is a registered, volunteer-based health charity, that leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through the advancement of research and its application, the promotion of healthy living and advocacy. The Foundation's purpose is centered on educating individuals about the prevention and management of heart disease and stroke, and to fund medical research regarding the causes of these conditions. The organization was founded in 1952. Heart & Stroke is led and supported by a team of more than 125,000 volunteers and sustained by the commitment and generosity of more than 1.4 million donors.
