Outfitting started in the mid-1800s with Tahltan First Nations being the first to host tourists on hunting expeditions. Today, more than 30 First Nations (or First Nations peoples) own outfitting businesses. This puts outfitters in a unique place to help advance reconciliation. FLNRORD is helping both First Nations to build capacity and relations in a guide mentoring initiative.
