The research rationale for - and social, economic and environmental benefits of - effective public policy required to achieve universal access to high quality, affordable child care will be shared primarily with public office holders in the Ministries of Education and Child Care, Finance, Health and Children and Family Development as well as the Premier's Office and School Districts. Public support for and detailed policy recommendations of the community-led $10aDay Child Care Plan, available at 10aday.ca, will also be shared. Policy and legislation recommendations include recognition and respect for Indigenous rights and jurisdiction, along with updated legislation (Early Learning and Care Child Act, Early Childhood Educators Act, Child Care BC Act, School Act) and increasing public funding to lower parent fees, raise educator compensation and education, and expand access to public and community-owned licensed spaces.
