Advocacy regarding proposing a made-in-BC Rental Housing Acquisition Facility to assist the community housing sector to purchase existing purpose built rental housing. The facility would provide quick access to capital grants and low-cost financing to housing providers to acquire and maintain rental buildings as they come on the market. The facility would also provide funds for the redevelopment and renovation of buildings where necessary. The creation of a $500 million capital fund to assist non-profits with this initiative and to be made available through existing government channels such as BC Housing or the Housing Investment Corporation. The facility would be in addition to the government's 30 Point Plan for Housing Affordability in BC.
