ORL/OIPC in-person strategic planning public consultations
The Office of the Registrar of Lobbyists (ORL) and Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) for British Columbia share a core mandate to promote transparency and accountability across the public and private sectors.
Whether through ensuring citizens can access government information, protecting people’s personal information in the private sector, or shining a light on who is influencing government decision-making, both offices aim to build trust between people in BC and the public bodies and private organizations that impact their lives. At a time of increasing polarization, that trust is essential to the strength of our democracy, and to protecting people’s fundamental rights to privacy and personal autonomy amid transformative technological change.
Michael Harvey, Registrar of Lobbyists and Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC, is inviting the public to share what they think the offices’ priorities should be over the next three years – what matters most to them in the areas of access to information, privacy and lobbying.
This feedback will shape the OIPC/ORL’s strategic plan, which will be released later this year.
There are two ways you can provide feedback:
1. In-person: Share your thoughts with the Registrar
Registrar Harvey will be delivering presentations in cities across British Columbia.
These sessions will offer a unique opportunity to learn more about the mandates of the ORL and OIPC, to ask questions, and to provide direct feedback on the offices’ strategic priorities.
