Securing a long-term solution that ensures BC municipal taxation contributes to the viability of provincial industry and to the economic competitiveness of BC. On May 6, 2011, Catalyst sent letters to Deputy Minister to the Premier John Dyble and to Government Caucus Chair Ron Cantelon offering a presentation on Catalyst¿s BC operations and global reach and the competitive realities shaping Catalyst operations. On May 16, 2011 Catalyst sent invitations to Premier Christy Clark, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation Pat Bell, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development Ida Chong, Minister of Environment Terry Lake, Government Caucus Chair Ron Cantelon, and MLAs Scott Fraser (Alberni-Pacific Rim), Nicholas Simons, (Powell River-Sunshine Coast), Doug Routley, (Nanaimo-North Cowichan) and Rob Howard, (Richmond Centre) to attend the Corporate Knights 10th anniversary dinner in Toronto on June 7. On June 9, 2011 Catalyst sent letters to Deputy Minister to the Premier John Dyble, Deputy Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development Don Fast, Deputy Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation Dana Hayden, and Deputy Minister of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations Doug Konkin to advise that a government-proposed June 13 meeting agenda should include discussion of Catalyst size and global scope, Catalyst efforts in municipal relations, provincial recognition of municipal excellence, and Catalyst¿s efforts to work with the Province. On June 13, 2011 in response to May and June letters from Catalyst, a meeting took place with Deputy Minister to the Premier John Dyble and Deputy Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation Dana Hayden from the BC government and Kevin J. Clarke, President and CEO, Lyn Brown, Vice President of Corporate Relations & Social Responsibility, and Brian Johnston, Vice-President of Operations from Catalyst with discussion centring on Catalyst¿s BC operations and global reach and the competitive realities shaping Catalyst operations. On June 27, 2011 Catalyst sent a letter to Premier Christy Clark to inform her of the introductory meeting with Deputy Ministers Dyble and Hayden and to extend an invitation to the government caucus to visit Catalyst facilities and host communities of Powell River, Port Alberni, and North Cowichan over the summer months.
