The Canadian Diabetes Association promotes the health of Canadians through diabetes research, education, services and advocacy. Programs include: Research grants and awards to qualified donees; professional & advocacy publications; educational publications, magazines and newsletters; nutrition guides and cookbooks; support to health care professionals to further education in diabetes care; support groups; camping services for children with diabetes; corporate food value symbols' programmes on consumer food products; supports elimination of blanket discrimination of those affected by diabetes; supports and administers government programmes designed to aid those in need with required supplies; advocates/negotiates for access to care and services; develops guidelines for standards of diabetes care; provides a network of community access for those affected by diabetes.
