(1) The BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) is requesting funding and policy changes to address the health human resource challenges in BC's continuing care sector.
(2) BCCPA is requesting funding for the purpose of a Safety Training and Equipment Program
that will benefit front line employees and seniors living and working in BC's continuing care sector.
(3) BCCPA will make recommendations about the independence of the Office of the Seniors
Advocate.
(4) BCCPA will make BC MLA's aware of the requests outlined in BCCPA's submission to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Affairs, specifically, building new long-term care and assisted living spaces, enhancing quality of life, continuing the Seniors Safety and Quality Improvement Program and acting on the health human resource crisis.
(5) BCCPA will make recommendations regarding improving quality of life within the seniors living and wellness continuum.
(6) BCCPA will raise the costs of the Employers Health Tax on contracted care providers, and seek a consistent policy across all health authorities.
(7) BCCPA will seek the expansion of education and training opportunities for community health workers, health care aides and licensed practical nurses.
(8) BCCPA is advocating for an open, transparent and fair funding process for care providers
(9) BCCPA will advocate to ensure that the transition surrounding the expropriation of home support is fair and equitable. (10) BCCPA is advocating for an open, transparent and fair funding process for care providers. (11) BCCPA will lobby for government funding to support the Seniors Living Expo. (12) BCCPA will discuss the impacts of the implementation of Bill 16 (2016), as to ensure fairness and consistency across the assisted living sector.
