Organization Information
Truck Loggers Association |
The TLA (The Truck Loggers Association) is the official voice of independent forest contractors located throughout B.C.'s coastal region. Organized by truck loggers in the 1940's, it was established to promote their voice in policy and legislation. We will achieve our vision by: - Promoting the viability and sustainability of the coastal forest industry, - Representing the membership in policy development, - Understanding and fostering effective communication throughout the membership, and industry stakeholders - Ensuring a dynamic organization that addresses the evolving needs of its members, - Developing successful relationships with forest industry stakeholders Forestry is the primary engine driving B.C.'s economy, accounting for nearly one in four direct or indirect jobs in B.C. The coastal forest industry itself contributes about $4 billion in wages and benefits and more than $2 billion in tax revenues. While efforts to promote B.C.'s high level of forest management and practices have been successful overseas, there remains a serious information gap at home. Our Association's membership is unique from the major forest companies because of our grassroots connection to coastal communities. Our member companies share a commitment to promote a healthy, working and sustainable forest industry and to foster communication and education within communities and government. TLA members know a healthy forest means jobs and economic growth. We are dedicated to responsible harvesting and sustainable forest management practices to ensure our province's fish and wildlife, forests, watersheds and outdoor recreation can coexist in a diverse and vibrant ecosystem. |
