Email sent to Min. Harry Bains to request a meeting. Increasing the minimum wage will prevent employees with disability from working for a longer time, contributing to unemployment and labour shortages as if they work over a certain number of hours and gain a certain amount of pay, a lot of it will be clawed back as back taxes. The request is to increase the maximum dollar amount a person with disabilities can earn in a given year. The lobbyist, Harry Bains, and Mike Broderick met on August 19, 2019, from 11-11:30 am to discuss the issue. It was decided that the limit currently imposed on people receiving disabilities ($12,000) should be increased when minimum wages are increased. A meeting with Minister Simpson is to be arranged.
