Examples of such advocacy work include meetings with:
? The Premier to seek resolutions to outstanding issues impacting our relationship with ICBC;
? The Attorney General and Minister Responsible for ICBC to express concerns over relations with ICBC with a view to rectifying issues as they arise;
? The Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure to discuss towing and recovery operator safety and the potential to permit blue flashing lights on tow trucks;
? The Minister of Advanced Education to discuss improvements to the college apprenticeship system for automotive technical trades, support for post-apprenticeship training; and strategies to attract/retain employees in the automotive sector;
? The Minister of Education to discuss opportunities to encourage profile of automotive issues and careers in the K-12 education system;
? The Finance Minister to discuss issues of industry compensation from ICBC and ICBC cost reductions;
? The Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General to discuss potential changes to the Motor Dealer Act and policies and practices within government that impact the automotive sector;
? The Minister of Environment to discuss environmental issues relating to vehicle and parts recovery and dismantling; access to the BC Scrap-It Program and Electric Vehicle Rebate programs;
? The Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources to discuss access to the BC Scrap-It Program and Electric Vehicle Rebate programs;
? The Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology to discuss automotive small business sector needs;
? Minister of Labour to discuss industry needs with respect to labour development and support to the automotive sector;
? All NDP and Liberal caucus members are invited to meetings hosted by the ARA for networking between Caucus and the ARA Board of Directors and senior staff.
