Intended outcomes: BC ratifies Conservation agreement for Caribou recovery and with Canada, West Moberly and Sealteau FN; also BC strengthens the Conservation Agreement on province wide caribou recovery with Canada. Included a combination of direct communications from DSF to the Minister and encouraging our supporters to contact the Minister and to participate in public consultations with the aim of:
- calling on the BC government to accept the details of, and to implement, the proposed Partnership Agreement under Section 11 of SARA with West Moberly and Sealteau First Nations for the caribou herds and habitat on their territory.
- Also, to improve the proposed Section 11 agreement between BC and Canada regarding province-wide caribou recovery actions. In particular, to include mandatory habitat protection, a commitment to reach 65% undisturbed critical habitat per herd and to immediately protect areas of critical habitat from on-going industrial disturbance.
